The Preventing Depression: Investigation in cohorts of its etiology and trajectory (“PREDICT”) study is conducted by the Institute of Mental Health (“IMH”) as represented by the PREDICT study team, referred to as “Study Team”, “we”, “us”, “our” or “PREDICT” in this privacy statement.
This privacy statement sets out how PREDICT uses and protects any information you give us when you use this website. PREDICT is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should you provide us information by which you can be identified when using this website, we will endeavour to ensure that such information is used only in accordance with this privacy statement. You and the Study Team will act in accordance with the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (“PDPA”) and all subsidiary legislation related thereto, and will comply with the terms set out below in this privacy statement.
If you are only browsing this website, we do not capture data that allows us to identify you individually.
I. Collection, Use and/or Disclosure of Personal Data
1. A variety of personal data may be collected, including the individual’s given name, family name, contact number and email address. You consent to the collection, use and/or disclosure of your personal data by and/or to the Study Team in accordance with the terms in this privacy statement and our data protection policy at Personal Data Protection Notification - IMH | Institute of Mental Health.
2. You agree that your personal data may be collected, used and disclosed, from time to time, for the following purposes (“Purposes"):
a. recruitment for the PREDICT study;
b. to contact you and/or provide guidance or support in connection with any participation in the PREDICT study; and
c. purposes which are reasonably related to the aforesaid.
3. You have the right to withdraw your consent to the collection, use and/or disclosure of your personal data at any time by emailing us at [imhresearch@imh.com.sg](mailto:imhresearch@imh.com.sg), though this will not affect the lawfulness of any processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
4. When you provide us with personal data, we may access, use or disclose your personal data:
a. without your express or informed consent if such access, use or disclosure is permitted by the PDPA, as may be clarified by written guidance issued by the Personal Data Protection Commission from time to time or any written law; or
b. if it falls within one of the purposes which consent is deemed under the NHG/IMH PDPA notification found at Personal Data Protection Notification - IMH | Institute of Mental Health.
II. Personal Data Security
5. We shall protect and take all reasonable precautions and adequate measures to safeguard the personal data against such risks as loss, theft, unauthorised access, unauthorised disclosure, modification, copying, use and destruction.
6. To safeguard your personal data, all electronic storage and transmission of personal data are secured with appropriate security technologies.
III. Accuracy of Personal Data
7. The personal data will be deemed as accurate and complete upon study enrollment, necessary for the Purposes for which it is intended to be used.
8. Accurate, complete and up to date personal data will minimise any inappropriate decisions made about an individual when the need arises.

IV. Retention and Destruction of Personal Data
10. The Study Team will maintain appropriate practices for retention and destruction where personal data will be erased and destroyed if it is no longer of use or relevant. Upon the destruction of the personal data, the Study Team will then no longer have access to such personal data.
V. Transfer of Personal Data
11. The personal data provided is not transferrable to other countries. The Study Team shall not use any personal data provided, or any substance that is replicated or derived therefrom for any commercial or profit-generating purpose, or in the conduct of research that is subject to consulting, licensing or other similar legal or commercial obligations to another institution, corporation or business entity, unless the individual provides his/her prior written consent.
VI. Miscellaneous
12. PREDICT reports statistics of the users of the website in broad terms (but not personal data of individuals) to our stakeholders for the purpose of internal audit, planning and administering public health policies.
13. This site may contain links to non-Government sites whose data protection and privacy practices may differ from ours. We are not responsible for the content and privacy practices of these other websites and we encourage you to consult the privacy notices of those sites.
14. We may amend, vary or modify this privacy statement from time to time without notice by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to apprise yourself of any changes made. This privacy statement is effective from 11 MAY 2025.
