Co Investigators from IMH

Professor Chong Siow Ann is a senior consultant at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and was the recipient of the Translational & Clinical Research (TCR) Flagship Programme in psychosis. He is also the lead investigator of several nationwide epidemiological studies in Singapore, which have provided a deeper understanding of the state of mental health in the country and informed policy.

Dr Janhavi Ajit Vaingankar is a director in IMH's Research Division and an Epidemiologist, with Ph.D. in Public Health. She is a co-investigator of national mental health surveys in Singapore, including the National Youth Mental Health Study, Singapore Mental Health Study, and Well-being of the Singapore Elderly Study. Her research focuses on psychiatric epidemiology, health services research, development and psychometric testing of person-reported outcome measures, and research in positive mental health and caregiver outcomes. She has over 200 peer-reviewed publications in these areas and an H-index of 58.

Dr Edimansyah Abdin is a principal biostatistician in IMH's Research Division. He has over 10 years of experience providing statistical support to researchers and clinicians, including study design, sample size calculation, weighting of survey samples, performing statistical analysis, and interpretation of results. He has led statistical analyses for several nationwide population-based surveys, clinical trials, and validation studies. His research interests include psychiatric epidemiology, psychometrics, and health services research.

Adj Asst Prof Mok Yee Ming is a senior consultant and the Assistant Chairman Medical Board (Clinical) at IMH. He founded Southeast Asia’s only Mood Disorders Unit (MDU). He will help in the recruitment of patients and assessments.

Dr Nisha Chandwani is a consultant and Chief of Department of Mood and Anxiety at IMH. She will help in the recruitment of patients and assessments.

Dr Yuan Qi is a senior research fellow in IMH's Research Division. He is a trained quantitative researcher with experience in qualitative research methodology. He received his Ph.D. in Public Health from the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Bachelor's degree in Public Health Management from Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China. His main research interests include stigma, dementia and related caregiving, mental health of caregivers, and digital health. He is currently an academic editor of Plos One and an editorial board member of Scientific Reports. In the PREDICT project, he will lead the sub-study on the digital intervention to improve the mental health of individuals with subsyndromal depression.

Dr Liu Jianlin is a research fellow in IMH's Research Division and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychology, National University of Singapore. He completed his PhD (Psychological Medicine) with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He is an active scholar and educator in the field of psychological trauma. Dr. Liu is an American Psychological Association (APA) Editorial Fellow with Psychological Assessment. He is also the Consulting Editor for Psychological Bulletin, Psychological Trauma: Theory, Research, Practice, and Policy, and Journal of Traumatic Stress. Dr. Liu leads a trauma intervention trial (within PREDICT) for individuals with adverse childhood experiences and subsyndromal depression. He also provides training and supervision for trauma assessments to the team.

Ms Shazana Shahwan is a manager in IMH's Research Division. She graduated with a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology and worked as a psychologist prior to her research career. She has over 15 years of experience conducting clinical assessments. She led research in the areas of stigma and non-suicidal self-injury and to date, has over 90 publications. Her roles in the PREDICT study include delivering the internet-based Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (i-STAIR) intervention and administering assessments in the longitudinal study.

Ms Carol Zhang is an assistant manager at IMH's Research Department. She holds a Master's Degree of Public Health and has dedicated her career to mental health research, specializing in public health epidemiology, stigma, and caregiver mental well-being. With a strong background in mixed-methods research, she integrates both qualitative and quantitative approaches to gain a comprehensive understanding of mental health issues. Her work aims to inform policies and interventions that improve mental health outcomes at both individual and population levels.

Ms Anitha Jeyagurunathan is a principal research officer at IMH's Research Division. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work, and had been actively involved in mental health research, focusing on women’s mental health, and caregivers’ well-being. She has been in mental health research for more than 20 years. She has several publications in renowned journals. In the PREDICT study, she will be recruiting participants, translating study documents and providing support to ensure data quality through monitoring study documents and recruitment progress.

Ms Pratika Satghare is a senior research officer at IMH's Research Division. She holds a Master's Degree in Public Health. With over a decade of experience in mixed-methods mental health research, her expertise lies in psychiatric epidemiology and its physical co-morbidities. She has conducted qualitative and quantitative studies across diverse populations, including foreign migrant workers, young individuals with mental illness, and their caregivers. She has several publications relevant to her research focus. In her role, she actively recruits research participants, trains interviewers, conducts interviews, and ensures data integrity through meticulous study documentation and rigorous data analysis.

Ms Ellaisha Samari is a senior research officer at IMH's Research Division. She holds a Master's Degree in Public Health. She has been actively involved in mental health research, focusing on youth mental health and caregiver well-being. With over eight years of expertise in conducting qualitative interviews and administering questionnaires, Ellaisha will be responsible for administering assessments and ensuring rigorous data monitoring for this project.

Mr Bernard Tan is a senior research officer at the IMH's Research Division. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Psychology and currently manages and maintains the quality of data for the department. His responsibilities for the PREDICT study include overseeing data storage, ensuring data integrity, conducting preliminary analysis, and managing contact records.
