Find out what to expect at the main study interview, from consent taking and biological sampling to questionnaires and physical health checks.

Main Interview Overview

You will be invited to take part in the main study interview once we have confirmed your eligibility for the study.
Details of each component:
Consent Taking

You will be provided with more information about the study such as its purpose, procedures and possible risks involved. Information on your rights as a participant will also be shared. Time will be given to you to ask any questions about the study and to consider your participation.
Biological Sampling

With your consent, a certified research coordinator will collect a fasting blood sample of approximately 30 ml (6 teaspoons) to assess your metabolic status. The study will also analyze biomarkers that may affect brain function. Additionally, a small hair sample will be collected for a longitudinal cumulative cortisol assay.
Questionnaire

This interview will gather information about your background (e.g., age, gender, education, and job), mental health (e.g., depression, anxiety, and substance use), and social experiences (e.g., loneliness, childhood experiences, and social media use). It will also look at positive factors that support well-being (e.g., resilience and social support), as well as personality, healthcare use, life challenges, family history of depression, and overall quality of life. All responses will be collected through an online platform.
Physical Health Assessment

During the assessment, physical health measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, hip and waist circumference and grip strength will be recorded to provide a comprehensive overview of your overall health.
